The applications are posted for Farm Credit’s Ag Biz Planner and Ag Biz Basics training. Each of the 3 Farm Credit associations will be taking applications for these programs until July 15.
The Ag Biz Planner course assists YBS and Veteran Farmers in learning how to better manage and grow their farming operation by increasing their knowledge of the marketplace, financial, and business management topics. Curriculum Farm Credit University 25 hours, 50 minutes $700.00 The Ag Biz Basics course assists YBS and Veteran Farmers in launching, growing, managing, and transitioning a farming business. This fast-paced online program is designed to help participants develop an understanding of basic financial statements, credit scores, cash flow, and how these things impact their current or future farm. The AgrAbility National Training Workshop (NTW) is the foremost educational event addressing issues related to disability in agriculture. These sessions will cover topics such as agriculture as therapy, preventing secondary injuries, assistive technology for agriculture, adding value to your farm, dealing with stress, and veterans in agriculture.

The 35thannual Small Farms Week will take place virtually March 21-27 with the theme “35 Years: Resilience. Strength. Diversity.” The event will offer a variety of educational programs designed to inform the public about their agricultural neighbors and provide research-based information to support small-scale farmers. A virtual kickoff preceding Small Farms Week will take place Friday, March 19, 2021, and highlight agriculture in Avery County, the home of the 2020 Small Farmers of the Year, Amos and Kaci Nidiffer.
On Wednesday, March 24, 2021, the Small Farmers’ Appreciation Program will include a keynote address by Jimmy Gentry, president of the North Carolina Grange, and the announcement of the 2021 Small Farmer of the Year. You can register at the Small Farms Week registration web page.
