GVET students: Want to Improve Your Farm Management Skills? Ag Biz Applications Available Now!

The applications are posted for Farm Credit’s Ag Biz Planner and Ag Biz Basics training. Each of the 3 Farm Credit associations will be taking applications for these programs until July 15.

The Ag Biz Planner course assists YBS and Veteran Farmers in learning how to better manage and grow their farming operation by increasing their knowledge of the marketplace, financial, and business management topics. This college level, online course is designed to help participants develop a successful farm business plan and strengthen communication with their lender. 
FCU Ag Biz Planner (ABP 2020)

Curriculum Farm Credit University 25 hours, 50 minutes $700.00
The Ag Biz Basics course assists YBS and Veteran Farmers in launching, growing, managing, and transitioning a farming business. This fast-paced online program is designed to help participants develop an understanding of basic financial statements, credit scores, cash flow, and how these things impact their current or future farm.

Tuesdays:  February 2-August 30, 2021 1p-2:30p ET

The AgrAbility National Training Workshop (NTW) is the foremost educational event addressing issues related to disability in agriculture.  These sessions will cover topics such as agriculture as therapy, preventing secondary injuries, assistive technology for agriculture, adding value to your farm, dealing with stress, and veterans in agriculture.

A schedule of the sessions and registration information will be coming soon and will also be available on the NTW tab of the National AgrAbility Project website. AgrAbility.org

35th Annual Small Farms Week – make plans to attend!

Small Farms Week

The 35th annual Small Farms Week will take place virtually March 21-27 with the theme “35 Years: Resilience. Strength. Diversity.” The event will offer a variety of educational programs designed to inform the public about their agricultural neighbors and provide research-based information to support small-scale farmers. A virtual kickoff preceding Small Farms Week will take place Friday, March 19, 2021, and highlight agriculture in Avery County, the home of the 2020 Small Farmers of the Year, Amos and Kaci Nidiffer.

On Wednesday, March 24, 2021, the Small Farmers’ Appreciation Program will include a keynote address by Jimmy Gentry, president of the North Carolina Grange, and the announcement of the 2021 Small Farmer of the Year. You can register at the Small Farms Week registration web page.

NC Farmer Veteran Coalition Spring Educational Event!!

It’s time for the Farmer Veteran Coalition Spring Educational Conference!

The first 150 North Carolina Farmer Veteran Coalition members registering for this virtual event will receive a meeting box in the mail.

*Register by February 19th to receive your box before the event.

Share some of your farm videos during the conference breaks. Please share links to your short (30 sec – 1min) YouTube, Facebook or Instagram videos on the conference registration.

When: March 16th 12:00 -3:30pm Where: Virtual, so the more the merrier!
